  	"Soon after graduation in 1814, Babbage eloped with his fiancée, Georgina Whitmore, quarreling with his disapproving father, a wealthy banker. He married Georgiana Whitmore at St. Michael's Church in Teignmouth, Devon in 1814, and then left Cambridge in 1815 to live in London. His father did not approve of the marriage. The couple lived happily at 5 Devonshire Street, Portland Place, London. They had seven children [?], but only three lived to adulthood. Sadly Charles' father, wife, and two sons all died in 1827 .Although he had married Georgiana Whitmore against his father's wishes he inherited a fortune from him, freeing him to indulge in his passion for mathematics and mechanics."
