This photo must date back to the 50s - some six decades after the Dewes departure. It shows the row of back-to-back, red brick terraced houses, from left to right numbers 8 to 2. Thus the former Barker home (No 6) is second from the left (note the milk bottle on the steps). Visible on the far right is Beckett Street, the central thoroughfare of Burmantofts which had trams which were still horse-drawn in 1891.

Iím sending you a partial thing I did on Mary Dawsonís descendants. I say its partial because of Walker Dawson Dewes. He and his wife, Marie Benton, had one child when they were unmarried and in their teens and that child was called Benton. They then had some Dewes children jointly and then, also jointly, had some children called Pearson. Walker had by this time moved to Fleetwood in Lancashire and changed his name to Frederick Pearson. I think he must have been escaping debt because when he was in his early 30s he got seriously depressed over some money he owed and killed himself. Marie then went on to have another child called Agnes about 7 years later. She called it Agnes Dewes.
